These are two, new four bedroom homes built on a brown field site in Arundel.
The homes focus on energy conservation and are constructed where feasible with locally sourced materials includings the bricks and timber cladding to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction. uPVC is kept to a minimum by high use of renewable timber and recyclable metal guttering. Solar water heating and low temperature under ground floor heating is designed to reduce energy consumption and fuel costs. An open fire for wood burning use produces further heating opportunities utilising a natural, renewable energy source.
The roof is insulated with sheeps woll, keeping in the heat in winter and preventing heat in summer. While the cavities are insulated within excess of building regulations.
